Indie Game of the Week - Catlateral Damage Feat. Kitty!
Just like the animal it is named after. Catlateral Damage is simple but has its subtle nuances and charm to it. The goal is simple, knock stuff down and make a huge mess. This is something just about anybody with an inner child can relate to. There is something satisfying about swatting a pile of dishes and watching them smash against the floor and giving you an even more satisfying sound effect to go along with it. There is a sense of glee when you end up in a Meowseum and take down a 15 foot T-rex with just one swat of your paw.
Is this a deeply complicated game? No. Is it a fun game? Yes. Last I looked that is what gaming is all about. Fun.
With procedurally generated levels, the designs, and layouts aren't always the same. With random events and secret levels it adds an even more satisfying reason to play this game over and over again. While the game seems easy enough at first. As you get deeper the timer gets smaller and the challenges become more specific. Hunting down one specific item in large supermarket. These are the things I enjoyed most about the game. Aside from the wanton carnage. Now there is ways to improve this game. Multiplayer would've sent this games appeal through the roof for me. I own 2 cats after all and 2 cats are always better then one. Adding more kinds of random events and even more crazy scenarios to put a cat in. Perhaps a level editor or platforming challenges. These are just some ideas. Nonetheless as a game. Catlateral Damage is fun, family friendly, and full of cats!
Big thanks to the developer/publisher for a chance to play this game!
