Indie Game of the Week - Dex
Dex is a game that I had heard nothing about. Yet oddly is one of the best damn Cyberpunk style games I have seen in the last couple of years. Everything feels alive and detailed in this side-scrolling, open-world cyberpunk RPG. The story is simple enough with familiar tones. Huge mega corporations wants you for some nefarious reason. Along the way you meet all sorts of different characters. What I love about Dex is that each of these character has so much detail to them. They feel like they have lived in this city their entire lives. The art of Dex is something that drew my eyes and I couldn't look away. Grand spectacles like the signs of the Aphrodite club. To the zoomed in details of a flickering sign. All of this and more has an extreme attention to detail. The combat/leveling aspects to Dex are not as robust as something like Shadowrun. It still manages to give you a feeling of customization to Dex. Picking up Lockpicking instead of combat skills or Hacking over health all can affect your style of play and how you move through a mission. Speaking of missions they are EVERYWHERE in this game. I seemingly found something or someone who had a job for me behind every nit and cranny. So rather your blasting your way through the doors or talking your way in. Dex is a game with many paths. To top off the cake that is Dex. You have full controller support, voice acting, hacking, and more!
Honestly if your a fan of Cyberpunk, Open world games, or love pixel art. Get Dex. It will be worth your time and money.
Big thanks to the developer for a chance to play this game!
